Olukolade Odekunle holds a PhD in Educational Management with biases in Economics of Education from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also obtained a Master Degree in Development Studies (Informal Sector and Small Scale Enterprises as well as the Technical and Vocational Education and Training) from the University of Bremen, Germany. He has published extensively in the areas of vocational education, gender equity, informal sector, human resource planning, development and utilisation, (employment) and social protection, Almajiri Education among others. Kolade Odekunle is currently a Research Professor and Director of Social and Governance Policy Research Department in the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), Ibadan.
He is also the current President of Higher Education Research Policy Network (HERPNET).
Professor Odekunle has in the past held several positions of responsibilities among these are Former, Member of Governing Board, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Kaduna; Member of Governing Board, Life Builders, Ibadan, Oyo State; Former, Head, Social Sector Group, NISER, Ibadan; Former Ag. Director, Human Resources Development and Utilization Department, NISER, 2007-2011; and Former Head, Manpower Planning and Utilization Division, NISER, Ibadan, 2006-2007. He is the Pastor of New Covenant Church, Alfonso Centre, Sasa, Ibadan. He is married with children.
